This month focus on

The European Directive on intelligent transport systems: requirements for Italy and opportunities for the sector. Meeting in Rome on December 15
It was held on the last 15 December, with more than 170 participants, the meeting on “The European Directive on intelligent transport systems: requirements for Italy and opportunities for the sector”, organized by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in collaboration with TTS Italia. The event has been the occasion for a first review and discussion of the contents and proposals prepared so far in Italy as well as evaluation of opportunities from the Directive, also in order to stimulate discussion and possible future contributions. In fact, on the last 26 August, came into force the European Directive on Intelligent Transport Systems and its he transposition is expected by February 27, 2012. In this context, TTS Italia TTS Italia started with the coordination of the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport, our founding member, work for the establishment of a National Action Plan on ITS in response to the Directive. At the event have been participating represenatives of: Italian Ministry of Transport; Eni, Italian Oil Company; of UIRNET, the national system for the logistics; and Albo degli Autotrasportatori (roster for drivers). The meeting also included a Round Table titled:“ITS Directive: requirement or opportunità?” to which several representatives of transport, logistic and telecommunication took part.

Solari Udine wins tender for parking meters provision
Solari Udine, TTS Italia ordinary members, has won the tender by Sistema sosta e mobilità SpA in Udine (North Italy) for the provision and installation of 40 parking meters and... of the hardware/software system for the management. The final value of the tender is 526 716,00 EUR.

t&t wins tender for SAE systems provision
t&t, TTS Italia ordinary member, has won the tender by the municipal agency of transport in Catania (Sicily, South Italy) for the provision and installation of SAe systems and electronic poles for users information at bus stop. The final value of the tender is 1 355 137,00 EUR.

TTS Italy welcomes 10 new members and new members of the Technical-Scientific Commitee
The Board of Directors of TTS Italia at its meeting on 15 December 2010 approved the accession of 10 new members for 2011:
- Axis Communications (www.axis.com) company offering network video solutions for professional installations.
- Next Engineering (www.next.it.) is an engineering company specialized in the design, development and integration of complex systems with high technological content, particularly in the transport sector.
- Polidream (www.polidream.it) provides consulting and design of innovative ICT solutions by adopting an organizational model of virtual enterprises.
- Redas Engineering (www.redasengineering.it) is an engineering company that offers specific advice for the analysis and planning of transport systems, with particular attention to aspects of the implementation of tools and software for mobility management and data and information relating to it.
- SISTeMA (www.sistemaits.com) develops models to analyze the mobility of people and goods. They especially operate in the areas of transportation planning, traffic management and Infomobility. - Softeco Sismat (www.softeco.it) is a company that develops solutions for Public Transportation and flexible monitoring satellite fleet.
- Via-Com (Group A.C - www.via com.it) provides engineering consultancy services and mobility solutions in the design and development of integrated information systems "Custom-oriented services”, fleet management and Infomobility, design and development of devices for the management of car parks board, planning and development board equipment for monitoring and tracking of vehicles.
- Department of Information Systems Sciences (DIST), University of Genoa (www.dist.unige.it)
- Department of Information Engineering, University of Parma (www.dii.unipr.it)
- Department of Energy Systems and Transportation Machinery (DIMSET) of the University of Genoa (www.dimset.unige.it).
In addition, during the same Board of Directors, was approved the entry of Rossella Panero (5t) and Claudio Claroni in Technical-Scientific Committee of TTS Italia.

PowerLAC-R for rail applications
In the series tested PowerLAC, Powersoft has developed version PowerLAC-R using the form on the Railway Standard for GSM-R radio communications stations. As with other models in the series PowerLac-R has the system of dead reckoning for localization when the GPS coverage is unreliable or absent through the inertial system.
