TTS Italia: first business trip in Argentina
TTS Italia has organized, in collaboration with ITS Argentina, a business trip to Buenos Aires from the 13rd to the 15th of July 2010 with the aim to promote the Italian know-how in the ITS sector. TTS Italia members Famas System, Mizar Automazione and Thetis participated in the initiative.
The mission started with the workshop “First Italian-Argentinean day on ITS” on the 13rd of July to which took part the Secretary General of TTS Italia, Olga Landolfi, to introduce the Association and ITS state of the art in Italy; the Italian companies to present their ITS solutions; local authorities and operators of the ITS sector such as representatives of the Directorate General of the Traffic in Buenos Aires, of the motorway operator Oeste, of the Directorate National of Roads, and of the Secretariat for Transport of the central Government.
On the 14th of July, it was signed the Memorandum of Understanding between TTS Italia and ITS Argentina and business to business meeting have been held between Italian and Argentinean companies interested in the Italian technologies. In the evening of the same day, Olga Landolfi e the President of ITS Argentina, Daniel Russomanno, have discussed together on the ITS strategic issues for Argentina that will be object of the Framework Programme that the Italian Ministry of Transport is defining together with the Argentinean Ministry of Transport.
The mission ended on the 15th of July with the technical tours at the traffic control centre of Buenos Aires and of the motorway operator AUSA.
The Italian delegation also took the occasion to meet the Director of the Italian Trade Commission, Pezzullo, and the First Commercial Counsellor, Barbarello, of the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires and they have discussed together on the business opportunities for Italian companies in Argentina.

First Workshop of the European Project P3ITS - Pre-commercial Public Procurement for ITS
On the 28th of September 2010, it will be held in Brussels, within the ICT Conference 2010, the first Workshop of P3ITS, the European Project lasting 18 months, coordinated by ERTICO and to which TTS Italia actively participates. P3ITS aims to investigate how pre-commercial procurement can promote innovation and support the development of favorable market conditions for a wide deployment of ITS for cooperative systems. TTS Italia participates in the project within three different work packages: activities for needs and requirements for the innovation and deployment conditions of cooperative ITS services; analisys of pre-commercial procurement models and mechanisms; activities related to the consolidations, recommendations for stakeholders and roadmap for implementation thereof. The team of the project is composed by: POLIS, Dutch Ministry of Transport, North Denmark Region, ITS Netherlands, Austriatech, Belgium Department for Mobility, EGIS, CDV, Transport Initiative Edinburgh, ITS Bretagne, Evolving Systems Consulting.

TTS Italia technical activities 2010: meeting among coordinators, universities and the Chairman of the Technical-Scientific Committee
On the last 2nd of July, at TTS Italia office, in Rome, was held the meeting among Mr. Massimiliano Zazza, Chairman of the Technical Scientific Committee of TTS Italia, the coordinators of the Working Groups and Universities involved in the Technical-Scientific activities for the 2010 divided in 4 macro areas: criteria for efficiency and effectiveness for road transport and the integration of the information on traffic; continuity of ITS services for the management of traffic and goods; ITS and safety; integration vehicle-infrastructure. The aim of the meeting was to check progresses and developments within the different Working Groups as well as to underline further steps and activities. During the meeting, it was also chosen mid September to organize a presentation of the 4 Working Group and to involve all TTS Italia members interested in contributing.

Study on "The impact of ITS for CO2 reduction"
It is now available on TTS Italia web site, under "Publications", the study "The impact of ITS for CO2 reduction" (only in Italian language), presented on the last 15th of July in Rome. The study is the result of the Work Group on ITS impact for CO2 reduction, coordinated by Prof. Vito Mauro from Mizar Automazione, TTS Italia founding member. The Group involved firms, research entities, National and local Public Administrations with the aim to define the real impact of ITS on the reduction of CO2 emissions, through the analysis of available data and best practices. The study can represent a good support to Public Administration decisions on ITS investments.

Trainig course on ITS
It was held on the 15th of July the final meeting of the training course on ITS organized by the Department for Transport of the Politecnico of Turin, TTS Italia ordinary member, in collaboration with TTS Italia. During the meeting, the participants who positively finished the course received the certificate. The meeting has also represented the occasion to ask questions, whether scientific, technical etc., to professors and experts of the course. Source: TTS Italia

VisLab autonomous journey has started
VisLab, a spin-off company from the University of Parma, TTS Italia incoming member, is involved in basic and applied research, developing machine vision algorithms and intelligent systems for different applications, primarily for the automotive field. Within more than 15 years of study and research, VisLab has developed electrical vehicles for the autonomous guide. Four vehicles left on the 20th of July from Milan to reach Shanghai in October: they will drive for 15.000 Km and will cross 11 countries. During the journey also another experimentation will be lead: thanks to the data collected by mobile telephones, it will be created a map of CO2 emissions along the journey.
