Workshop “COSMO Project-Cooperative Systems for Sustainable Mobility and Energy Efficiency” - 18 May 2012 - Fisciano (Salerno)
On 18 May 2012, in Fisciano (Salerno), it will be held with the support of TTS Italia, from 9.30 am the National Workshops of the Project COSMO - Cooperative Systems for Sustainable Mobility and Energy Efficiency, coordinated by Mizar Automazione, TTS Italia founding member. COSMO is a 32-month (2010-2013) pilot project co-funded by the European Commission under the Competitiveness & Innovation Programme - ICT Policy Support Programme (CIP - ICT-PSP). The aim of the project is to demonstrate in realistic conditions the benefits of cooperative mobility services and to quantify their impact on increasing the energy efficiency of transport. COSMO will set up three Pilot Sites in which a range of cooperative applications will be installed and tested: Salerno (Italy), Vienna (Austria) and Gothenburg (Sweden). All sites will implement leading-edge cooperative systems technologies developed in the recent EC-funded research projects COOPERS, CVIS and SAFESPOT. The Italian and Swedish Pilot sites consist of urban scenarios, involving public transport, while the Austrian Pilot is testing an inter-urban use case on a motorway. The Workshop will be held at the occasion of the official launch of the Italian Pilot located at the Campus of the University of Salerno (Southern Italy) where over 18,000 students and 2,000 teaching and administrative staff travel to every day.

Workshop “ITS for Smart Cities: the Verona model” – 16 April 2012 - Verona
It was held on April 16, in Verona, the Workshop "ITS for Smart Cities: the Verona model" organized by the Municipality of Verona, in collaboration with TTS Italia. The workshop was an opportunity to present and discuss the initiatives undertaken by the City of Verona in support of an intelligent and sustainable mobility and to assess the results and benefits. The opening session will be at The Mayor of Verona, Tosi, and the Councillor for Mobility of Verona, Corsi, opened the Workshop together with the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. A speech by the President fo TTS Italia, Rossella Panero, on the ITS Directive followed, and then the presentation of the "model of Verona."

TTS Italia organizes a Table with associations on the National Action Plan on ITS
On April 5, TTS Italia held a meeting with trade associations on the National ITS Action Plan. Participants included: Aiscat, Anita, Assoknowledge, Asstra, Club Italia, Federmobilità, Federtrasporto, Unci and Unrae. The meeting was also attended by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport with the Chairman of the Technical-Scientific Committee of TTS Italia, Massimiliano Zazza, and Prof. Carlo Medaglia of the Technical Secretariat of the Secretary Improta, which informed the public that the decree for the adoption of the ITS Directive 2010/40/UE has been finalized and will be adopted by Italy within next summer. Objective of the meeting was to discuss ways to provide the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport of content shared by all the actors interested in the applications of ITS in transport sector, and TTS Italia will coordinated the activities of the Table.

TTS Italia and Autostrade per l’Italia at the ITS Network Workshop in Copenhagen
It was held on April 26, in Copenhagen, Denmark, the ITS Network Workshop organized by ERTICO within the Plenary meeting of the Network of National ITS Associations of which TTS Italia is part. Plenary meeting was attended by Secretary General of TTS Italia, Olga Landolfi, while the ITS Network Workshop, was attended by Autostrade per l’Italia, a founding member of TTS Italia, represented by Fabio Pressi, CEO of Infoblu SpA, who has gave a speech in the session on "Door to Door Traffic" entitled "The new frontier of the Traffic Monitoring: Floating Vehicle Data."

TTS Italia meets some of its members in Northern Italy
On 17, 18 and 19 April, the Secretariat of TTS Italia has met with some members of the North Italy: Autostrade Brescia-Padova, Selex Elsag and Thetis. These meetings are associated with the request by TTS Italia members to organize meetings at their premises with the aim of discussing the issues that hinder the market for individual companies, of organizing initiatives of specific interest, as well as discussing the activities carried out within TTS Italia for the National ITS Action Plan.

A conference for infomobility projects and “Smart Cities”
TTS Italia took part on last April 19 in Turin, at the workshop organized by the City of Turin and Piemonte Region with the technical coordination of 5t, TTS Italia ordinary member, “An open architecture for mobile information: from cities to the regions”. The initiative has been dedicated to the presentation of some national projects devoted to the issues of traffic management and infomobility. In particular the event presented the results of the SIMo.Ne Project (funded by the first call of the ELISA program - Program Innovation System of Local Bodies Department of Regional Affairs at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers) and the Infocity projects (funded by the third call of the program ELISA). The event aimed to initiate discussion on the issues of traffic management and mobility, the design capacity of the territories in this area and the opportunities arising from the use of Intelligent Transport Systems Technology (ITS), with particular attention to the needs of Local Authorities, becoming the occasion for the launch by TTS Italia of a Working Table on "Smart Mobility Cities" which was signed by the councilors present the event. The table will be an opportunity to open the discussion and comparison between the demand and supply on mobility and smart cities.

Selex Elsag wind tender for traffic control systems maintenance
Selex Elsag, TTS Italia ordinary member, has won the tender issued by the Municipality of Genoa for services of maintenance of facilities, equipment and systems relating to activities of the automated operating Centre of the Municipality of Genoa and to supervise and monitor traffic. The initial estimated value of the tender is 175 998,90 Euro.

Thetis at Workshop “ARTEMIS: the smart platform for the intermodal logistics” - 7 May 2012 - Turin
“ARTEMIS: the smart platform for the intermodal logiostics” is the title of the ARTEMIS project Workshop held on 7 May in Turin. Thetis, partner of the project and TTS Italia ordinary member, will be among speakers. ARTEMIS (Advanced Rational Transport Evaluator and Multimodal Information System) is a project developed within “Marco Polo” EU financing programme. One of the aim of ARTEMIS is the creation of a Smart Platform able to indicate the best mono-modal road, as well as to assess the opportunities and conveniences of multi-modal transportation identifying time to time the optimal solution according to user priorities. For this platform ARTEMIS is a veritable tool for decision support at European level: in its database, it collects the operational point of more than 300 ports, sea ports and river ports allowing operators to identify routes, methods and timing for a effective, efficient and sustainable logistics. The Workshop will be the occasion to illustrate the Smart Platform.

DESTINATION project, DangErous tranSport To New prevenTive Instruments, started in 2010 in the framework of the Italy/Switzerland Operational Programme for Transfrontier Co-operation 2007-2013. It was born to answer to the increasing needs of public bodies to share territorial, environmental and technical data on hazardous material land transportation as well as to develop instruments and methodologies to ensure territorial and environmental protection. The partnership is made of 5 institutional members - Canton Ticino, Regione Piemonte as Leader of the project, Regione Lombardia, Autonomous Region of Aosta Valley and Autonomous Province of Bolzano Alto Adige- with support of some technical partners - CSI Piemonte, 5T S.r.l., Laboratorio Mobilità e Trasporti of Politecnico di Milano, Lombardia Informatica S.p.A.
